Grand Rapids Ballet
The Grand Rapids Ballet, originally established in 1971, has grown to become the only professional classically-based ballet company in the state of Michigan. As Michigan’s only professional ballet company, the Grand Rapids Ballet Company has a rich history marked by steady growth, a commitment to excellence, and strong community support. In 2004, the Company was honored to receive the ArtServe Michigan Governor’s Arts Award for Outstanding Cultural Organization.
Guided by a commitment to its mission "lifting the human spirit through the art of dance," the Grand Rapids Ballet has fostered rich traditions of providing excellent dance education and presenting the finest in dance performances. Many of its former students have moved on to excel with major ballet companies around the county. Many current professional dancers come to Grand Rapids Ballet after training and performing with many of the nation's most prestigious dance companies.
